“We’ve always chosen to deal with the work we love… Some nights, after everyone is gone, we go back in the gallery and just sit there with these pictures, and we ask ourselves how we ever got so lucky.”
David Scheinbaum and Janet Russek

Scheinbaum & Russek is celebrating our forty-first anniversary. Yes, it is an odd number! Not one that is usually celebrated. As we all know, we lost a year in 2020. Now we welcome the chance to celebrate the last forty-one years with gratitude.
From our premier exhibit of Willard Van Dyke’s photographs in October of 1980 we have aspired to show the best of all photographic traditions, exhibiting contemporary and historical works. Through this we have had the honor of meeting and presenting the work of more than 300 photographers who have been an integral part of our life and journey. We are grateful to all the people we have worked with – artists, collectors, scholars, historians, and students. All have contributed to an exciting four decades.
We have seen great changes in the art world over the past decades with photography gaining rapid recognition and breaking ground with more diverse practitioners, technological advances, and the widening of the boundaries into a myriad of other mediums, while still anchored by the masters who firmly form a strong foundation in photography. We are pleased to be a part of this exciting world.
Janet, Andra and David continue to be committed to photographic education for new and seasoned collectors and photographers. Please visit our website for our ongoing educational programs under the category of The History of Photography.
